Lake Kyaghr

Kyaghr Lake Tour Leh Ladakh India
Lake Kyaghr is the smallest lake in the land of lakes and valleys. The smallest of Ladakh lakes is situated at a distance of 10 Kms from the Tsomorirri Lake in the north. The Kyaghr Lake is spread across an area of 3 Kms in length, 1.5 Kms in width, and with a maximum depth of 22 meters. The water at the lake is collected from the melting of snow at the mountains at summer season due to lack of sloping drainage.

The Lake Kyaghr Ladakh water is mostly brackish and turns saline making it unsuitable for marine life. The water is not only fit for aquatic life but also due to being brackish it is not suitable for human consumption. The Kyaghr Lake Ladakh is also the stopover region for trekkers on the way from Kiangdum camping ground to the Tsomorirri Lake. This Ladakh Lake is in the route from Ladakh to Spiti in Himachal Pradesh.
