Reaching Majestic Land Leh-Ladakh by Road

Road to the Heaven Leh :

Leh is the capital city of ladakh which is in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in North India and is located at a cross-road of Indus River Valley.There are two routes to reach Leh; one from Manali and the other one from Srinagar. Both the routes are very beautiful and consist of narrow/steep roads, military check points and huge valleys etc.

Leh tour by Bike

Srinagar to Leh (434Km)  

The distance of Leh from Srinagar is about 434Km. This route is yearly open from June to October. The stretch is full of beautiful valleys and panoramic sites. This route also passes through several villages & farm lands.

It normally takes 2 days to reach Leh with a over-night stay at Kargil.

Rohtang Ladakh

Manali to Leh (473Km)  

The distance of Leh from Manali is about 473Km and is the most chosen route by the tourists to reach Leh. This route also takes around 2 days, with an over-night stay in Keylong or in Sarchu.

Tourists have to pass through one of the highest road passes in the world, which is surrounded by huge mountains and rugged valley.

This route is yearly open between mid June to the end of September.

By Bus

State bus services are provided to all the national & international tourists. These inter-state bus services are run by “Himachal Pradesh Tourist Development Corporation” and “Jammu & Kashmir Transportation”.

By Jeep

Jeep can be the fastest mode of transport to reach Leh. If you choose to travel by jeep, then it takes only 20-24 hours by road. Travelling by your personal or rented jeep can be more pleasurable because, you can stop where ever you want for photography, to eat, to rest etc.

By Motorcycle

The route from Manali to Leh is also called Biker’s Paradise. Tourists can hire ‘Pulsar’ or ‘Royal Enfield’ bike from Manali and then can ride it to Leh and vice-versa.

The itinerary for the bikers normally goes like:-

Day 1 – Manali to Jispa

Day 2 – Jispa to Pang

Day 3 – Pang to Leh

It is always advisable for the bikers to carry a tool-kit, petrol can, oxygen cylinder, dry fruits, chocolates and lots &lots of water.
