Religious Tour Itinerary

One needs at least 3 days to visit the famous shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi on Trikut Parbat and other temples around the whole city of Jammu. Full one day is required to go up the 14 km trek to Mata Vaishno Devi durbar, have darshan and come back down the mountain. After leaving Katra one can move on to Shiv Khori cave temple where Lord Shiva resides in a Linga form. Shiv Khori is in Ranso Village that comes under Udhampur district of Jammu. The place is 84 km from Katra and 140 km from Jammu. Dera Baba Banda can also be visited while still in Katra. In Jammu one must visit Raghunath Temple, Ranbireshwar Temple and Peer Khori.

Apart from its religious attractions, Jammu has much in store for visitors. Magnificient Bahu Fort is considered to be the oldest around the place. The fort was built on orders of Raja Bhahulochan. The three century old fort has majestic lawns to impress the tourists. Bage-e-Bahu is full of flowers and attractive plants. Shrubs and trees are all around. Waterfalls add to the charm of this place. The place is an ideal picnic spot for locals as well as tourists. Reflection of surrounding beauty can be admired in the waters of River Tawi that flow across the land in the vicinity.

Mata Vaishno Devi India

Raja Amar was a Dogra ruler and is credited with the construction of beautiful Amar Mahal. The palace is an art museum in these present times. Red sand stone structure is fascinating in its French Chateau architectural style. Apart from Pahari paintings one gets a chance to see Maharaja Hari Singh’s throne made out of 120 kg gold. Valuable collection of books can be browsed in the museum library.

Mubarak Mandi Palace is a 150 yr old construction. Here is a blend of Rajasthani, European, Mughal and Baroque style of architecture. Dogra art collection is housed in the Pink Hall Museum of this palace.
