Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir state of India. It is also known as the “Paradise” on the earth. Srinagar attracts thousands of tourists yearly, from round the globe. There are many tourist attractions in Srinagar like gardens, lakes, valleys, glaciers and snow-covered Himalayan ranges etc.

Tourists love to attend the local festivals of Jammu & Kashmir region. Tulip Festival is one of the major festivals of this state, which is organized every year in the month of April.

Tulip Festival 2014

Tulip Festival is annually organized at Srinagar in Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. It is the Asia’s biggest Tulip garden, which is situated at the foot-hills of Zabarwan Ranges in Srinagar. This garden overlooks the beautiful & magnificent Dal Lake. This view is a complete pleasure to one’s eye.

If you watch it from a height, it will just look like a flower carpet, which adorns the city and gives it the name of “TRUE HEAVEN”.

One can find more than 60 varieties of Tulips in the garden of 5 hectares. Tulip festival starts either in the 1st or 2nd week of April and continues for 7 days. Last year in 2013, this festival was attended by more than 100000 visitors.

Srinagar has a domestic airport, which offers the landing of both private & public jets.


Srinagar is well connected by road. The distance of Srinagar from the major Indian cities are as follow: -

Chandigarh (630 km), Delhi (876 km), Jammu (290 km), Leh (434 km), Gulmarg (48 km), Sonamarg (88 km) & Pahalgam (96 km).


The nearest Railway Station is Jammu Tawi, which is connected with all the national cities like Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai etc.
